Zebre Parma’s roster-building process continues with the contract extension of talented fly-half Giovanni Montemauri, who has signed a new deal running until 2027. The signature, formalised in the presence of club president Giovanni Fava, comes in the week that sees the Gialloblù side flying to Dublin for Saturday’s URC clash against Leinster at the Aviva Stadium (kick-off 18:30).

“Giovanni’s renewal is another source of satisfaction for the club,” said George Biagi, Zebre Parma’s Director of Rugby and Operations. “He’s an important player whose performances have been making a big impact both on and off the field. We’re confident he can continue to do very well, further enhancing our attacking potential. This extension is in line with our long-term plan to strengthen the team and provide stability to a group that’s proving increasingly competitive in the league.”

“The environment and spirit of the club are a constant drive to keep improving,” said Montemauri. “Coach Brunello and his staff constantly push us to raise our standards, physically and mentally. We’re a team that has earned respect on the field, always fighting hard in every game. That’s why I chose to stay for another two years — I’m confident I can continue to grow here.”

Born in Rome in 2000, Montemauri began playing rugby at the age of six with Primavera Rugby, where he made his senior debut in Serie A. After a year at the Stade Français Academy in Paris, he returned to Rome to join S.S. Lazio, where he spent two seasons before signing with Rugby Rovigo in 2022.
In his first season with the Veneto club, he won the Italian Championship title, was named TOP10 Player of the Season 2022–23, and finished as both top points scorer in the regular season (207 points) and overall (233 including play-offs).
He joined Zebre Parma ahead of the 2023–24 United Rugby Championship campaign.
